The Nissan Altima automobile was designed in the company’s California office starting in 1993. Originally called ‘Stanze Altima’, this name will only be seen on the manuals for earlier models and, on 1993 models, with a sticker on the trunk lid. Formerly built at a plant in Smyrna, Tennessee it has now moved to Canton, Missouri. Different versions of this automobile have been built since 1993.
